A master craftsperson offers different jobs and time shifts.

When signing up for a job in Mageo, you will see options for 8 or 12 hour time shifts. As you begin to acquire more tools for specific professions and learn the skills to use them at a University, you will notice that it opens up higher-level, better-paying jobs. In the screen above, of a master craftsperson offering different shifts, you can see that some of the more advanced jobs have a red x, meaning that you need to acquire a higher level tool and get the skills to use it to become eligible for those higher-paying jobs.

The number of coins and Mageons you will receive when you finish is listed on the info card for each job. Once a shift begins, you will be limited in what you can do on the game side (you will still be able to change your wardrobe, look at stats, leaderboards and your inventory), but the social side of Mageo will remain fully functional.

Fortunately, you are allowed to take one break per shift, during which you can resume all normal game activity. The optimal strategy is to wait and take that break when your action-point counter hits 100, which is where it stops accumulating. So, hit “take a break” in the menu (see below), and you are free to go out and spend those action points any way you like in the Mageo world. But be careful, the maximum allowable break is one hour. You will lose any time you spent on a job and receive no pay if you don’t make it back in an hour. It’s also a good idea to make a mental note of where you took employment, because Mageo is complex environment and it’s not unheard of to wander off and get lost.

Action points stop accumulating at 100. Take a break and use them.

One of the key ways to maximize your on-the-job earnings is to do the extra side jobs that employers offer during each shift. You can certainly start a job just before you go to sleep, and it will be finishing as you wake up. But, if you can, check back in on the status of your job frequently, and you will get plenty of these extra jobs, which require 0 action points. Other side jobs require payment with action points, and you should play as many of them as possible.

In the example below, there are two side jobs listed as “Search for rare materials” in one of the Mageo mines. One is free and the other costs 60 action points, which is quite expensive and will take an hour to accumulate. But it’s worth playing as it’s the only pay option here, and if you don’t play your action points will stay at 100 for the entirety of your shift, and go to waste.

Build greater wealth by taking all the side jobs you can.

Combined, all of the side jobs from one shift can be quite lucrative, often adding up to far more payment in coins (and skill points, which can be used to acquire skills for a tool) than the actual job itself pays. Work two or three shifts a day, doing as many side jobs as you can, and you’ll be able to buy that fancy new airship or high-level tool a lot quicker than you ever thought possible.
