After you’ve signed up for Mageo and begun to familiarize yourself with your new surroundings and take care of the basics (like uploading an icon, building your avatar, and making friends), it’s time to set out exploring the vast world that exists beyond your home island.
One of the first great adventures you’ll want to undertake is to go out and colonize a virgin island. These unchartered territories offer some of the most fantastical beasts in Mageo, plus staking a claim to them is an excellent way to build wealth and begin expanding your empire.
Keep in mind that you cannot teleport to virgin islands. You can only get to them with your Airship, which you’ll find parked at your residence. Also, you can only travel to a virgin island using the Mageo app (download it on your phone if you haven’t already). You’ll be asked if you want to turn on location services before taking off, which you must enable in order for your Airship to able to find a virgin island to land on.
Have Colonization Pack, Will Travel
To successfully colonize an island, you need to have a colonization pack loaded onto your Airship. They can be purchased at a Technopark on any Nexus. For members of our special Settlers’ Program, you received 10 free colonization packs when you joined the club. These packs are quite valuable, and each one includes a siege fighter that will be used to protect the island after you take it over. As you can see, prices vary widely depending on the skill and flamboyance levels of the pack. In general, the more you spend, the more protection you are getting for the defense of the island.
Once you land on a virgin island, go to its colonization point, which is marked with a white flag, and hit the Colonize button. The siege fighter in your colonization pack will automatically be deployed to protect your new territory.
But remember, some islands are too wild to colonize, and you won’t find a flag or colonization point. So find a proper island, colonize it and become the owner and the Mayor of the new settlement. Colonized islands have new city districts, ports and other infrastructure. Most importantly, they also have teleports, so you can invite your friends and they can easily visit your new island. Be sure to share your latest conquests and let them know you’re open for business.
Maintain and Build up Your Islands
Also, don’t forget to frequently visit and maintain the islands you acquire as they can be attacked and re-conquered by other users if left undefended. A good place to start is by going to the main Square of the island, and in the menu you will find options to call an election, rename the island or build a building. It’s also where you’ll see your avatar. Make sure you’re dressed to impress, as this is the first thing visitors will be greeted with when they arrive. So show them your best outfit and let them know the owner of this island has style.
Constructing buildings is a more advanced activity that requires a lot of money and possibly contributions and cooperation with other users, but building infrastructure is one of the best ways to build up the defenses of your island. Another great way to protect it is to invite friendly players to visit, play minigames and perform counter-sabotage measures.
