Before we get to the main topic of how to dominate our leaderboards, let’s quickly go over what Mageo is for those unfamiliar with our next-generation social network. Mageo has all of the features we’ve come to expect from a social media platform but with an important difference: an integrated game environment where creativity, learning and discovery are prized above all else, and users can compete with each other for position on our leaderboards.

If you’re looking for a Facebook alternative, an exciting virtual world and on ramp to the metaverse, then give us a try by signing up here. And for extra special rewards (up to 50,000,000 coins), sign up for our Settler’s Program right away by going to your profile page (click your icon image in the upper left corner) then select Assets > Programs.

When you first sign on to Mageo, think of it as moving to a new city. Luckily, you start off with a house, some clothes and pocket money, and an airship to explore this exciting virtual playground, which closely mirrors the real world. But in order to climb our leaderboards, it’s essential that you establish your identity, make new friends, get a job, learn new skills and begin to earn and accumulate wealth.

In the world of Mageo, your position on the leaderboards (view globally or by friends or country) is determined by your social status (number of friends, followers and social activities such as liking and sharing items) and your wealth, the cumulative value of all the properties and goods you have acquired.

When you do a job in Mageo, you will be paid for each shift in virtual coins and Mageons, our in-game currency. But those earnings will not be counted towards your wealth until you actually spend them on goods or contribute to the Mageo economy in some other way.

Dress for Success

Our avatars are the most fashionable on the internet.

A good place to start your Mageo life is by dressing and accessorizing your avatar, which can be done by clicking your icon image, then Avatar > Change clothes. You start off with some basic items, and there are nearly unlimited options for spending your hard-earned virtual money on unique fashion items. Stop by any department store to browse the many luxurious options. Or meet a celebrity, play a minigame against them, and you can win the clothes right off their backs.

Our advanced avatar-building feature lets you dress your avatar in very sophisticated ways, and you can also display your favorite pet by your side, hold a favorite tool, and place a mood expression on your face to let everyone know how you’re feeling at the moment. Explore your inner fashionista by designing and changing outfits as often as you like. And be sure to share your latest fashion statements, your social wealth gets a boost each time you do. This is one of the best ways to express yourself while building wealth.

Working for a Living

Another important wealth-building strategy is — you guessed it — getting a job! The ultimate goal might be to become a fat-cat builder and collect rents on properties. But you have to start somewhere and, for now, fighting arenas, art galleries and city pubs are all hiring. They have a variety of jobs available, and when you complete a work shift, you will be compensated with both coins and Mageons, our in-game currency.

Pick a profession (chef, artist, farmer, miner, trader, etc.) and make it a top priority to start acquiring the tools of that trade (hint: find a tool seller at any department store), which will allow you to take on higher paying jobs after you acquire the skills to use those tools at a university. Don’t worry, most of the work in Mageo actually takes place in the background, and you can even work shifts while you sleep or start one when you wake up or when you arrive at your job in the real world.

Getting the Right Tools

For every profession, there’s an assortment of cool tools that correspond to the six levels of minigames and jobs in Mageo. Once you have acquired a tool, go to any university and take lessons to get the skill points required to attach skills to that tool. Once you have a skill attached for that tool, you will be eligible for higher paying jobs and will have a better success rate in minigames of that level.

If you want to become a master chef, for instance, go to the department store and buy a level 1 tool such as a cooking spoon. You can then go to the Faculty of Gastronomy at a university to take lessons and get the skill for that tool.

There are six levels of tools, with 6 being the most advanced and expensive to obtain. For best results, you’ll want to use a tool of a level corresponding to the minigame level, or close to it. For example, using a level 1 or 2 tool on a level 5 or 6 minigame is almost certain to fail; while using a level 3 tool on a level 4 minigame is more likely to succeed.

You can play a minigame without using a tool, or with a tool that doesn’t have a skill attached, but using the right tool with a skill guarantees optimal results. The costs of obtaining tools and skills goes up with each level, but be patient and acquire lower level tools (start with level 1 and 2) and get the skills at a University before trying for the higher levels.

Once you have mastered a profession by acquiring all six levels of tools and learning to use them, you will have a steady stream of potential income any time you need it, and will be well positioned to move onto other ways of making money in Mageo, of which there are many.

Socialize Your Way to the Top

Another strategy and essential activity in Mageo, which you’ll want to pursue from the start, is building social wealth. Friend as many people as you can and don’t forget to invite your friends from the real world to join Mageo (you’ll get a 50 Mageon reward each time they do!). If you’re looking for people to follow, a good place to start is our global leaderboard, where you’ll find our most active international users. Be sure to share all of the accomplishments (jobs completed, new outfits, tools and skills acquired) on your journey, because each time you do, you get social points, which boosts your status and overall position on our leaderboards!

Be patient, because it will take some time to reach the highest levels of Mageo. That’s how it is when you move to a new city, things don’t always fall into your lap at the start. It takes time to settle in and start your climb toward the top. But by working, learning, buying tools and goods, expressing your individuality and socializing, you’ll be well on your way.
