My name is Gigi. Welcome to Mageo!

Hello, my name is Gigi!

Mageo asked me to write a guest post to introduce myself and discuss my experiences, goals and achievements on this social platform.

I’m 23 years old, and I’ve been a serious athlete ever since I can remember. My sport, my original passion was soccer. I even tried out for the junior Olympic team when I was 16, and then received a scholarship to play on my college team.

After graduating last year, I decided to continue my education and go to law school. My new schedule is hectic and requires a lot of studying. That doesn’t leave time for me to participate in actual sports, but I find that I still have a deep need for competition and the camaraderie that my team provided.

With Mageo, I’ve found a perfect outlet that fulfills all my competitive needs, fits easily into my schedule, and makes it easy to meet new and exciting people. It has even helped me boost my productivity and manage my time more effectively.

Virtual Success Mirrors the Real World

Mageo is a social media platform with an integrated game and leaderboard. The game side mirrors the real world with virtual real estate (each country and town has an equivalent), businesses and a sophisticated, well-developed economy where goods are created, traded, bought and sold.

To succeed in Mageo and climb the leaderboards, one of the first things I discovered is the need to choose and concentrate on one of the professions (there are nine: art, farming, mining, trading, etc.) and master it. I chose sports (no surprise there!) and went to the university to study martial arts. The great thing is that I don’t have to monitor or actually sit through activities like classes or jobs, they take place in the background, unlike most other games that usually require your constant attention.

Each time you complete a class, you receive skill points, which can then be applied to a tool. You can also accumulate the specific skill points in minigames related to each of the professions. You start off with level 1 tools, and can acquire higher level tools at a Mageo department store and even win them in minigames against celebrities and other non-player characters.

Tools and Skills are the Key To Getting Ahead

It’s relatively easy to acquire level 1–4 tools and then learn the skills to use them. Each time I attached the skills for a tool for each level, it unlocked a higher job with more pay in coins and Mageons, the in-game currency, for each job I took in that profession. So, when I completed an 8-hour shift as a bone picker (level 2) at the coliseum, I received 300 coins and 2 Mageons. But after getting the level 3 tool and learning to master it, I was able to get a job as a match barker, and I earned 500 coins and 3 Mageons for the same amount of work.

I quickly learned that to get the more luxurious goods such as fancy clothing for my Avatar and a bigger airship that can be used to colonize virgin islands and capture beasts, I needed to acquire tools for each level and gain the skills for each so as to unlock higher pay. My current goal is to get to level 6, which will pay 1,300 coins and 7 Mageons for each 8-hour shift.

This last level is more challenging to reach, but I love a good challenge, and earning that extra income is crucial to making a serious run at the top spot on the leaderboard. When you earn these monies from your job, they don’t actually count toward your overall wealth and position on the leaderboard until you actually spend it on goods. So, I’ve been on quite a shopping spree, buying clothing, tools, and accessories for my residence.

Meeting Cool New People

And I’ve been meeting and making some great friends on Mageo. Some of them even share my passion for Sports. I’ve joined a public group where we can discuss and read and share news about the latest sporting events and personalities. And, I’m thinking about starting my own group, which will focus on sports law and how to become a sports agent.

Another thing I love about Mageo is that outside of the game, the social media aspect functions just like any other platform. Facebook, for instance, but with an important difference: all of your social actions (friending, liking, sharing, commenting) contribute to your social wealth and overall position on the leaderboard. It’s easy to make friends, find interesting content every day and share your own experiences and achievements.

A Fun Productivity Tool

Finally, one of my favorite aspects of Mageo is that it has taught me to view time differently and manage my schedule more effectively. The game aspect mainly takes place in the background. I can use the Mageo app and my cell phone to check in throughout the day wherever I might be. With just a few clicks here and there, I can easily pursue my goals and monitor my progress, and it helps me gauge where I’m at in my daily routine.

So, I will start an 8-hour work shift just before I go to bed, and it will almost be finishing as I wake up. “Earn while you sleep,” it’s the best if you can actually pull it off. Then, I’ll start a four-hour virtual martial arts class just before I head off to my real morning classes. After lunch, I’ll start another 8-hour shift. When that’s done, after dinner, I’ll play some minigames and check in on my friends and read and comment on the latest news.

I’ve developed a solid daily virtual routine of learning, earning and playing. It’s fun to check in throughout the day to see where I’m at in my virtual life, gauge the results and set new goals. This helps me succeed in my real life and approach my activities and responsibilities in a more structured way.

I hope to see you and meet you on Mageo soon!
